CDA Launches Real-Time Bus Tracking on Google Maps for Islamabad and Rawalpindi
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has rolled out a new feature that allows commuters to track electric and metro buses in real time through Google Maps, integrated with the official CDA Mobile App.
With this initiative, passengers can easily check bus routes, stops, and schedules directly on their smartphones. The feature aims to save time, improve travel planning, and make public transport more convenient for daily commuters across Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
According to CDA officials, the tracking system covers both the recently launched electric bus feeder routes and the full metro bus network.
Electric and Metro Bus Coverage
-
Electric Buses: Introduced in July 2024, currently running on 13 feeder routes. Some of the key services include Faizabad to NUST, PIMS to Bari Imam, Police Lines to D-12, and Aabpara to Tramri. Weekend tourist services are also available from PIMS to Daman-e-Koh and Shakarparian, giving passengers access to scenic destinations in the capital.
-
Metro Buses: The integration also includes the Red Line (Saddar to Pak Secretariat), Orange Line (Peshawar Mor to Islamabad International Airport), Green Line (Bhara Kahu to PIMS), Blue Line (Gulberg to Faizabad), and Purple Line (Taramri to Aabpara). Together, these routes form the backbone of the twin cities’ mass transit system.
Benefits for Passengers
The new integration allows travelers to:
-
Track live bus arrivals and departures.
-
Find the nearest bus stops.
-
Plan journeys more efficiently.
Officials believe the service will not only improve passenger convenience but also encourage more people to opt for public transport, easing traffic congestion and cutting down environmental pollution in the capital region.
How to Access the Service
The CDA Mobile App is available for free on both Google Play Store (Android) and the Apple App Store (iOS). Once downloaded, commuters can use it alongside Google Maps for smooth navigation and a better travel experience.
