Putin Expresses Solidarity with Pakistan Over Flood Losses During Meeting with PM Shehbaz

Beijing, September 2, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Beijing, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

During the meeting, President Putin expressed deep sorrow over the losses caused by the recent floods in Pakistan, assuring Moscow’s solidarity with the people of Pakistan in this difficult time. He highlighted that Russia and Pakistan enjoy excellent relations and emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in the future.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Russian leader for his sentiments and reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to deepen collaboration with Russia, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and development partnerships. He underlined that Pakistan is keen to broaden ties with Moscow across multiple sectors, paving the way for stronger bilateral engagement.

The meeting comes as Pakistan continues to deal with the devastating impacts of widespread flooding, with international partners expressing their support for relief and recovery efforts.
