Chelsea Win Club World Cup — But Trophy Reportedly Remains with Donald Trump
Chelsea recently secured a 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain to win the first-ever expanded FIFA Club World Cup at MetLife Stadium. While the triumph marked a historic moment for the English club, fresh reports have surfaced suggesting that the trophy lifted during the celebration was not the original.
Trophy Reportedly Held by Former US President Trump
According to international media sources, the original Club World Cup trophy—a 24-carat gold-plated creation designed in partnership with Tiffany & Co.—was not present at the post-match celebration. Instead, players were handed a replica, while the real trophy is said to be in the possession of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
During a live DAZN broadcast, Trump revealed that FIFA President Gianni Infantino personally gave him the trophy during a promotional tour months earlier. Trump claimed that Infantino told him the trophy would not be collected and that he could keep it permanently. The trophy, reportedly valued at around $230,000, now sits in the Oval Office.
Ceremony Overshadowed by Unexpected Presence
The trophy presentation ceremony took an unusual turn as Trump remained on stage during Chelsea’s celebration. Cole Palmer, who scored twice and was named Player of the Tournament, shared his surprise:
“I knew he was going to be here, but I didn’t expect him to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy, so I was a bit confused.”
Despite some crowd members expressing disapproval before kickoff, Trump remained in the spotlight throughout the medal ceremony. Reports even suggest that FIFA presented him with a gold medal after the final whistle.
Chelsea’s Win Still a Milestone
While the issue surrounding the trophy adds an unusual twist to the tournament’s conclusion, Chelsea’s dominant performance against PSG stands out as a major highlight in their international success. The victory cements their position among the world’s elite clubs, regardless of whether the trophy in hand was the original or a replica.
