Armando Broja Joins Burnley on Five-Year Deal After Leaving Chelsea
Armando Broja has completed his move from Chelsea to newly promoted Burnley, signing a five-year contract, the clubs confirmed on Friday. While the transfer fee was not officially disclosed, British media report that Burnley will pay Chelsea an initial £10 million ($13.4 million), with an additional £5 million ($6.7 million) possible in add-ons.
Broja, who joined Chelsea’s academy from Tottenham at age eight in 2009, progressed through the ranks before making 38 first-team appearances and scoring nine goals. The English-born striker represents Albania internationally.
Following several loan spells, including last season at Everton, Broja has decided to leave Stamford Bridge as Chelsea strengthens its forward line with new signings Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. Everton opted not to make his loan permanent.
The 23-year-old has also played Premier League football with Southampton and Fulham. Speaking about his Burnley move, Broja said, “I’m really excited to be here. It’s a positive time to join ahead of the new Premier League season. I’m ready and eager for the challenge and will give my all in the famous claret shirt.”
Burnley have also bolstered their squad this off-season with signings like Bashir Humphreys and Lesley Ugochukwu as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.
