Fresh Rain Spell to Lower Temperatures Across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – A fresh wave of rain is set to hit Pakistan starting from October 3 to October 7, bringing much-needed relief from the heat. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), widespread rainfall, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected across the country during this period, with temperatures likely to drop significantly.

The Met Office has also warned of hailstorms, flash floods, and landslides in vulnerable areas. The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert regarding possible rise in river flows between October 5 and 7.

Rain Forecast by Region

  • Punjab: Cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, and DG Khan are expected to receive heavy showers and thunderstorms between Oct 2 and Oct 6.

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP): Almost all districts including Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and Kohat will see widespread rain from Oct 2 to Oct 7.

  • Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan: Areas like Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Hunza, Skardu, and Gilgit are likely to receive rainfall with chances of snowfall on high mountains between Oct 4 and 7.

  • Sindh: Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Badin, and other districts will see rain and thunderstorms on October 3.

  • Balochistan: Zhob, Quetta, Naseerabad, and surrounding regions will experience rainfall between Oct 4 and Oct 6.

PMD Alerts

  • Urban flooding is possible in major cities.

  • Flash floods may occur in northern areas, including Swat, Dir, Abbottabad, and Murree.

  • Snowfall is expected on higher peaks of KP, GB, and Kashmir.

This new spell is expected to bring pleasant weather and much-needed relief from rising temperatures, but citizens are advised to stay cautious of possible flooding and travel disruptions.
