Govt to Slightly Reduce Petrol and Diesel Prices

Petrol and Diesel Prices Likely to Drop in Pakistan

Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to see a slight reduction in the upcoming fortnight, according to industry sources.

Based on initial estimates, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) could go down by Rs. 3.13 per litre, while the rate of petrol may be cut by around 61 paisas per litre or remain unchanged.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will submit its price review summary to the government on August 31, after evaluating international market trends and local industry data. Oil marketing companies have already shared their input with OGRA.

The Ministry of Finance, in consultation with the Prime Minister, will make the final decision regarding the revised fuel prices.

Earlier this month, the government reduced the price of high-speed diesel by Rs. 12.84 per litre, setting it at Rs. 272.99, while petrol remained unchanged at Rs. 264.61 per litre.

If approved, the upcoming revision would provide moderate relief to consumers, especially in the transport and agriculture sectors where diesel demand is highest.
