Islamabad Airport Partially Closed for Eight Days By Sher Alam | Published Aug 9, 2025 | 4:40 pm

Islamabad International Airport to Close Temporarily During Independence Day Preparations

Islamabad International Airport will undergo temporary flight suspensions in August to facilitate rehearsals and preparations for Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day celebrations.

The Pakistan Airports Authority has announced that no flights—both arrivals and departures—will be allowed during specific time slots to accommodate parade rehearsals. A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) confirms that flights will be suspended from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm on August 11, 12, and 13. Airlines have been advised not to schedule flights during these hours.

Additional flight suspensions will occur intermittently between August 6 and 9, and again from August 11 to 14, including a significant pause from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on select days.

Travelers are encouraged to verify their flight timings ahead of time to avoid any inconvenience. Airlines are working closely with authorities to update schedules and keep passengers informed about changes.

These measures aim to ensure smooth security and logistics as Islamabad prepares to host the annual Independence Day events with grand celebrations and official ceremonies.
