A promotional video released by Kayo Sports featuring Australian cricketers has been taken down after it sparked criticism on social media for appearing to mock India over the recent handshake controversy with Pakistan during the Asia Cup.

The short video clip, which featured players from both Australia’s men’s and women’s cricket teams, included light-hearted references to India’s pre-match interactions. The segment began with a voice saying, “We all know India is on its way. But we’ve identified one critical weakness.”

Among those featured in the video were Mitchell Marsh and Sophie Molineux, who appeared in playful scenes meant to promote the upcoming India-Australia cricket series.

However, the clip received widespread backlash online, with fans and analysts calling it “inappropriate” and “poorly timed” ahead of the series. Following the criticism, Kayo Sports removed the video from all official platforms.

The broadcaster has not released an official statement regarding the removal, but the decision was reportedly made to maintain a respectful tone before the upcoming bilateral series.

India and Australia are set to face each other later this month in a limited-overs series, with both teams expected to feature their full-strength squads. Cricket boards and fans from both nations have called for keeping the focus on the spirit of the game as the rivalry resumes.
