Manchester United Secure Signing of Benjamin Šeško in Major Striker Overhaul
Manchester United have officially landed Benjamin Šeško in a major summer signing, agreeing to pay €76.5 million upfront with an additional €8.5 million in potential add-ons for the 22-year-old Slovenian striker.
Šeško’s move marks a significant step in United’s attacking revamp, following a difficult Premier League season where the club managed just 44 goals in 38 games—one of the lowest tallies in the league.
Beating the Competition
While Newcastle United also showed interest in Šeško—potentially as a replacement for Alexander Isak, who is being linked with Liverpool—the young striker was reportedly drawn to the heritage and global stature of the 20-time English champions, despite their absence from European competition this season.
A Haaland-Like Talent
Known for his towering 1.95m (6ft 4in) frame, speed, and clinical finishing, Šeško has often drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland. Like the Manchester City star, Šeško also started his career at RB Salzburg before moving to RB Leipzig, where he scored 39 goals in 87 matches, including 21 goals last season.
New-Look Attack at Old Trafford
Šeško joins a revamped frontline at Old Trafford, alongside Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, both signed earlier this transfer window. The trio combined for 58 goals last season, and United will hope that firepower translates into a strong comeback campaign.
With a total forward investment surpassing £200 million, the pressure is on for immediate results—especially as the club faces financial sustainability obligations and the challenge of rebuilding without European football revenue this season.
