NADRA Brings Major Changes in Succession Certificate Rules

NADRA Makes Succession Certificates Easier to Obtain Across Pakistan

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has taken a major step toward simplifying the process of obtaining Succession Certificates for citizens across Pakistan.

Apply from Anywhere – No Provincial Restrictions

According to a new notification from NADRA, legal heirs can now apply for succession certificates at any of the 186 Succession Facilitation Units (SFUs) established nationwide. These units are located in NADRA centers across Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, and applications are no longer restricted to the province where the inherited property is located.

This means that if you live in Karachi but the property is in Lahore, you no longer have to travel to Punjab to apply. You can start and finish the entire process at your nearest NADRA SFU or even from your home.

Enhanced Biometric Verification Options

In a further move toward citizen convenience, biometric verification can now be done in two easy ways:

  • At the nearest designated NADRA center

  • From the comfort of your home using the Pak-ID Mobile App

This is a significant improvement over the older system, which required biometric verification and application submission in the property’s province—even when digital tools were available.

Streamlined Process for All Pakistanis

A NADRA spokesperson confirmed that official instructions have been issued to all centers with SFUs, ensuring that citizens can now access this service easily and quickly from anywhere in the country.

This new system eliminates bureaucratic hurdles and provides a modern, tech-driven solution for legal heirs, reducing stress and saving time.

Why This Matters

This update will especially benefit families living far from inherited property, overseas Pakistanis, and those with limited mobility. By allowing applications to be filed from anywhere and offering at-home biometric options, NADRA is making an important government service more accessible, inclusive, and efficient.
