Pakistan Approves National AI Policy 2025 to Build Future-Ready Economy

In a landmark move, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved Pakistan’s National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy 2025, signaling a major step toward digital transformation and economic modernization.

🧠 The decision was made during a Federal Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, where the policy was unanimously approved. The initiative is set to create a comprehensive AI ecosystem, improve public services, drive innovation, and generate new employment opportunities.

“Our youth are Pakistan’s most valuable asset. Equipping them with the education and skills needed for the AI era is a national priority,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Key Highlights of the National AI Policy 2025:

  • 🎓 Training 1 million AI professionals by 2030

  • 💼 Launch of AI Innovation and Venture Funds to support startups and private sector investment

  • 🏛️ Creation of 50,000 AI-driven civic projects and 1,000 local AI products within 5 years

  • 🎓 Distribution of 3,000 annual AI scholarships and support for 1,000 research projects

  • 👩‍💻 Inclusive access for women and differently-abled individuals through accessible education and financing

  • 🔐 Strengthened cybersecurity and data protection measures

  • 🌐 Global collaboration aligned with international AI standards and ethics

A dedicated AI Council will oversee implementation, supported by a national Master Plan & Action Matrix to ensure timely execution.

Prime Minister Sharif praised the efforts of the Ministry of IT and its partners, stating:

“Artificial intelligence will not only boost economic growth but will also improve productivity across sectors like agriculture, governance, and public services.”

With this bold vision, Pakistan joins a growing list of nations actively preparing for an AI-powered future.
