PCB Yet to Finalize Decision on Asia Cup 2025 Participation
Lahore, September 16, 2025 β The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clarified that no final decision has been made so far regarding the national teamβs participation in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.
A PCB spokesperson said that internal consultations are still in progress and that a conclusive stance will be announced later today, keeping Pakistanβs best interests in mind.
The clarification comes amid widespread speculation following reports that the dispute over the match referee had been settled. According to earlier media reports, the International Cricket Council (ICC) agreed to replace referee Andy Pycroft for Pakistanβs upcoming match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The controversy originated during Pakistanβs group-stage match against India, when players reportedly avoided post-match handshakes. Allegations surfaced that referee Pycroft had advised Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha not to engage in the customary handshake, which fueled further tensions.
In response, the PCB demanded Pycroftβs removal, warning that Pakistan might reconsider its participation in the tournament if its concerns were not addressed.
A final update from the PCB is expected later today.
