Punjab District Bans Court Marriages in Rawalpindi

  Oct 8, 2025

Rawalpindi: The Deputy Director of Local Government and Community Development has announced a ban on the registration of Nikah (marriage) certificates within the Katchery (court complex) area of Rawalpindi.

According to the official directive, Union Council secretaries and Nikah registrars have been instructed not to record or process any marriage certificates within the Katchery jurisdiction.

The Deputy Director emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against anyone violating the order. Copies of the notification have been forwarded to the Director and Assistant Director for implementation and monitoring.

This move aims to regulate court-based marriage registrations and ensure compliance with local administrative procedures. Residents are advised to process their Nikah registrations through authorized Union Councils outside the Katchery area.
