Jon Rahm Leads Legion XIII to Thrilling Playoff Victory in LIV Golf Team Final
Golf fans witnessed a dramatic finish on Sunday as Jon Rahm and Legion XIII defeated Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers in a tense playoff to claim the LIV Golf League team championship at The Cardinal at Saint John’s.
Legion XIII staged a late surge, finishing tied with the Crushers at 20-under-par, while South Africa’s Stinger team ended well behind at 12-under.
The playoff came alive when Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton both birdied the final two holes of regulation. On the second extra hole, Rahm drained a 6-foot birdie putt while Hatton followed with a short putt to seal the victory over DeChambeau and Paul Casey.
“Tyrrell and I got it going a little late, but better late than never,” Rahm said. “In the playoff, I felt confident. We’re strong wedge players, and once we kept it in the fairway, I knew we’d have plenty of chances.”
Young star Caleb Surratt, a former Tennessee standout, powered Legion XIII with a blistering 64, showcasing why Rahm brought him onto the team.
“It’s been a wild ride,” Surratt said. “I’m thankful to Jon for trusting me, and I’m proud of the progress I’ve made as a player.”
Rahm and Tom McKibbin each posted rounds of 65, while Hatton added a 66, completing a team effort that secured the championship.
With this win, Legion XIII proved their resilience, overcoming pressure and delivering clutch performances to claim LIV Golf glory.
