Scottie Scheffler Ready to Tee Off in FedEx Cup Playoffs After British Open Victory

DALLAS, TX — After capturing the British Open title, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returned home to celebrate with family and enjoy a well-earned break. Among the highlights? He used the iconic Claret Jug to help his 15-month-old son, Bennett, gain entry into the men’s grill at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas — a light-hearted moment during a season filled with success.

Now, with renewed energy and focus, Scheffler is preparing to compete in the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first of three playoff events in the FedEx Cup series.

A Strategic Approach to Year-End Golf

Despite the enormous stakes — including a total of $25 million in prize money — Scheffler emphasized that now isn’t the time to overwork his game.

“At this point in the year, that extra practice is maybe only going to be draining for me a little bit,” he said during a media session after his pro-am round. “That’s something I’ve learned to manage better as my career has gone on.”

Rather than grinding on the range, Scheffler is focused on preserving his form and mental energy for the high-pressure rounds ahead.

FedEx Cup Prize Money Breakdown

In the newly revamped playoff format, the $25 million FedEx Cup bonus has been distributed across three key milestones:

  • $10 million: Already awarded to Scheffler for finishing 1st in the FedEx Cup regular season standings, plus an additional $8 million from the Comcast Business Top 10 bonus.

  • $5 million: To be awarded to the FedEx Cup leader after the BMW Championship next week.

  • $10 million: Reserved for the Tour Championship winner, where all 30 qualifying players will start from scratch for a true showdown finale.

Looking Ahead

The FedEx St. Jude Championship, hosted at TPC Southwind, marks the start of a critical stretch that will determine who claims the season’s ultimate prize.

With momentum on his side and lessons learned from managing both pressure and preparation, Scottie Scheffler enters the playoffs as the clear favorite — but the battle for the FedEx Cup crown is far from over.
