Punjab Launches Disciplinary Action Over Exam Marking Errors
The Punjab Higher Education Department has initiated disciplinary proceedings against several teachers found responsible for significant marking discrepancies in Matric and Intermediate examination papers.
Investigation Underway
According to official sources, the names of the involved teachers have been referred to the School Education Department for further action. Show-cause notices were initially issued on July 9, but many of the teachers reportedly failed to appear before the designated inquiry committee.
In response, the Directorate of Public Instructions (Elementary), Punjab has now issued fresh notices, requiring the teachers to appear today along with a written explanation of their conduct.
Mandatory Attendance and Accountability
Authorities have emphasized that attendance at the inquiry session is mandatory for all teachers under investigation. The Education Department has confirmed that individual hearings will determine the outcome of each case, with strict disciplinary measures expected to follow.
Possible Consequences
A spokesperson for the department stated that the teachers involved in the marking errors may also face future disqualification from paper-checking duties, depending on the inquiry findings.
This action is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to ensuring transparency and accuracy in the examination process, safeguarding academic standards across the province.
