South Africa Women Defeat Pakistan in ODI Series Opener Despite Sidra Amin’s Century
Lahore, September 16, 2025 — South Africa claimed a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Pakistan in the first women’s ODI at Gaddafi Stadium, despite a brilliant unbeaten century from Sidra Amin.
Pakistan, batting first, posted 255/4 in 50 overs. Sidra Amin anchored the innings with a composed 121 not out off 150 balls, supported by Muneeba Ali’s 76 off 94 in a record 147-run partnership for the second wicket. Aliya Riaz added 33 before being run out, while South Africa’s Ayabonga Khaka led the bowling with 2/36.
In reply, South Africa overcame early setbacks to chase down the 256-run target with 10 balls to spare. After losing skipper Laura Wolvaardt for 4 and Sune Luus for 30, Marizanne Kapp (121 off 128)* and Tazmin Brits (101 off 121)* combined for a dominant 216-run unbeaten stand, sealing the win.
With the victory, South Africa lead the three-match ODI series 1-0. The second ODI will be played at the same venue on Friday, September 19, 2025.
