Martial Arts Legend Ashraf Tai Hospitalized Due to Breathing Issues, Condition Improving
Karachi – Renowned martial arts icon Grand Master Ashraf Tai was admitted to a private hospital on Monday after experiencing breathing difficulties. He was initially taken to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), where he received emergency medical care.
A spokesperson for the hospital confirmed that Master Tai was later moved to the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) for further observation. The spokesperson added that his condition is now stable and improving.
Ashraf Tai’s wife has made a public appeal for continued support from the government, highlighting the family’s ongoing medical and financial challenges.
Government Extends Financial Assistance
Earlier in March 2025, the Sindh government extended a financial grant of Rs 2 million to Ashraf Tai in recognition of his contributions to Pakistan’s sports legacy. Under the direction of Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Baksh Mahar and Secretary Sports Abdul Aleem Lashari, Director Sports Asad Ishaq personally visited Tai’s residence to inquire about his health and deliver the financial aid.
Master Tai, widely acknowledged as the pioneer of martial arts in Pakistan, has been battling heart-related health issues for some time. He had previously reached out to the provincial government for assistance to help manage his medical expenses.
National Recognition and Support
Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Mahar emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting national heroes. “Ashraf Tai is a symbol of pride for Pakistan. The Sindh government stands by him and will continue to provide all possible support,” he said.
Ashraf Tai’s contributions to martial arts have earned him international acclaim, and he remains an inspirational figure in Pakistan’s sports community.
