Punjab Premier League Trophy Unveiled in Grand Ceremony at University of Lahore

Lahore: The trophy for the much-anticipated Punjab Premier League was unveiled during a grand ceremony at the University of Lahore. The event was led by Owais Rao, Chairman of the Board of Governors at the university and Patron-in-Chief of the Punjab Premier League, who served as the chief guest.

Former Test cricketer Taufeeq Umar was the guest of honor, while notable attendees included a large number of students, former cricketer Humayun Farhat, international commentator Asad Ali Yunus, and Saiful Azam Khan. The unveiling of the trophy was carried out by Owais Rao, Taufeeq Umar, Asad Ali Yunus, and Nadeem Manzoor.

During his address, Owais Rao announced that the league will take place from October 4 to 11 at Gujranwala’s Jinnah Stadium, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) having issued the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC). He emphasized that this is only the second league, after the PSL, to have official approval from the PCB.

Rao expressed optimism that the Punjab Premier League will help discover fresh cricketing talent for Pakistan, adding that the event is designed to provide opportunities outside of Lahore, with Gujranwala hosting day-and-night matches under floodlights.

Taufeeq Umar, speaking at the ceremony, shared that the league had been in the planning stages for a long time and is now finally becoming a reality. He noted that the league will offer players an excellent platform to showcase their talent, and acknowledged the support of the local government in making the event possible.

With excitement building, the Punjab Premier League promises to be an exciting opportunity for new cricketing talent to emerge in Pakistan.
