NDMA Issues Nationwide Alert for Heavy Rain, Flash Floods & Landslides (July 11–17)
ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an urgent weather advisory, warning of heavy rainfall, flash floods, and potential landslides across multiple regions of Pakistan from July 11 to July 17.
🌧️ Punjab Braces for Torrential Rainfall
Several districts in Punjab are expected to receive intense rainfall, including:

Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Narowal, and Sargodha.
In DG Khan, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan, rising water levels in local streams and potential flash floods due to runoff from the Pīr Panjal mountain range have been forecasted. Northeastern Punjab may face heightened flood risk.
🌊 Flash Flood Threat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the following areas may experience flash flooding:

Swat, Dir, Mansehra, Kohistan, Mardan, Nowshera, Buner, Peshawar, and Waziristan.
Major rivers, including the Kabul, Swat, Panjkora, and Kulpani, could see dangerous water level rises, especially near Nowshera, where the Kabul River may reach flood stage.
⚠️ Balochistan & Mountainous Areas on High Alert
In Balochistan, local streams in Quetta, Ziarat, Kalat, Khuzdar, Loralai, Mastung, Musakhel, and Dera Bugti may overflow.
Mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) are at high risk of landslides due to persistent rainfall. Affected areas include:

Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Ghanche, Diamer, and Shigar

Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Haveli, and Bagh
🛑 Landslide-Prone Zones Identified
NDMA warns of road closures and dangerous travel conditions in the following locations:

Upper Kohistan, Diamer, and Astore roads

Jaglot–Skardu Road, especially near Rondo

Gilgit–Nagar routes and Karakoram Highway stretches vulnerable to falling debris
