Pakistan Ranks 4th Lowest in Global Passport Index 2025
Pakistan’s passport has been ranked among the least powerful in the world, placing 4th from the bottom in the Henley Passport Index 2025. The ranking places Pakistan just above Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.
✈️ What the Index Measures
The Henley Passport Index ranks passports based on the number of countries a holder can enter without a prior visa. The data is sourced from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and covers 227 destinations worldwide.
Pakistani passport holders can access only a limited number of countries without a visa, reflecting the challenges many citizens face when traveling internationally.
🌍 Global Rankings: Who’s on Top?
At the other end of the index:
-
Singapore holds the top spot with visa-free access to 193 countries.
-
Japan and South Korea rank second, each offering access to 190 destinations.
-
Germany, France, Spain, and other EU countries round out third place with 189 destinations.
📈 Countries Showing Improvement
Some nations showed strong progress:
-
United Arab Emirates (UAE) jumped to 8th place, granting access to 184 destinations, the fastest climb globally over the past decade.
-
India improved by eight positions, now ranking 77th.
-
Saudi Arabia also moved up to 54th, gaining access to four additional countries this year.
🇺🇸 🇬🇧 Western Powers Slip
Once dominant passport holders like the US and UK continue to see a gradual decline:
-
The UK now ranks 6th with access to 186 destinations.
-
The US dropped to 10th, barely remaining in the top 10.
🌐 Visa-Free Access Still a Challenge for Pakistan
Despite global travel becoming more accessible for many countries, Pakistani citizens continue to face restrictions. This low ranking underscores the need for improved diplomatic engagement and visa agreements to enhance global mobility for Pakistanis.
