PFA Destroys 8,000kg of Rotten Meat in Rawalpindi

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) recently conducted a raid at a warehouse on Service Road, Dhoke Kashmirian, leading to the confiscation and disposal of 8,000 kilograms of foul-smelling meat.

According to a PFA spokesperson, the seized meat did not have an official slaughterhouse seal, violating food safety regulations. The meat was reportedly being transported to Rawalpindi from Sargodha, Jhang, and Gojra in regular vehicles without proper refrigeration.

Veterinary tests confirmed the meat was unsafe for consumption, showing signs of water adulteration and a strong odor. The estimated market value of the confiscated meat was around Rs. 9.6 million.

Authorities have identified those involved in the illegal activity, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the local police station. An investigation is underway.

The PFA Director General emphasized the authority’s zero-tolerance policy against the sale and distribution of substandard meat throughout Punjab. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or complaints to the PFA helpline at 1223 for immediate action.
