Thailand Opens FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship with Victory Over Egypt
Bangkok, August 22, 2025 – Thailand kicked off their campaign at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship with a strong performance, defeating Egypt 3-1 in front of an electrifying home crowd at the Huamark Indoor Stadium.
The reigning Asian champions showed resilience and skill, bouncing back after dropping the second set to claim the match 25-15, 23-25, 25-15, 25-11. With fans filling the arena, the Thai players celebrated their first win in Pool A, marking a promising start to their journey.
Thailand’s Defense Shines
Thailand’s defensive reputation was on full display. The team outperformed Egypt in nearly every category:

Opposite Pimpichaya Kokram led the scoring with 19 points (17 kills, two blocks). Middle blocker Thatdao Nuekjang followed with 16 points, including four blocks, while Chatchu-On Moksri also delivered a solid performance.
Chatchu-On praised the team’s effort, saying:
“It was a big surprise that we got so many blocks today. We’re happy with the win, but we believe we can play even better in the upcoming matches.”
Egypt Shows Fighting Spirit
Back at the World Championship for the first time since 2006, Egypt earned respect by claiming the second set. Nada Meawad, also a beach volleyball Olympian, stood out with 14 points, while opposite Tokka Eassa added 12.
Meawad reflected on the performance:
“I’m proud we fought for every point. We need to start matches more aggressively, but we’ll work hard and come back stronger.”
