Karachi Plans to Introduce Smart Traffic Signals on Major Roads
Karachi is preparing to install smart traffic signals on key roads as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and urban management.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Karachi Traffic Management Company, chaired by Mayor Murtaza Wahab. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the city commissioner and transport authorities.
Project Overview
Officials reviewed various proposals and agreed to move forward with the installation of advanced signal systems while coordinating with relevant departments.
Focus on Key Roads
Under the plan, smart traffic signals will be deployed on major routes. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will oversee implementation on I.I. Chundrigar Road.
Smart Road Initiative
Authorities have also approved a proposal to upgrade M.A. Jinnah Road into a smart road, with funding allocated for the project.
Objective
City officials stated that improving traffic signal systems and road infrastructure could help ease congestion and enhance overall traffic management in Karachi.
