Former Arsenal FC goalkeeper Alex Manninger has passed away at the age of 48 following a tragic accident on April 16, 2026.
According to reports, the former Austrian international was involved in a collision at a railway crossing in Salzburg, where his vehicle was struck by a train at approximately 08:20 local time. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and attempted resuscitation, but he could not be revived.

Manninger enjoyed a professional career spanning nearly two decades, representing multiple clubs across Europe. He is best known for his time at Arsenal, where he made 64 appearances between 1997 and 2002.
