Former Angels Star Garret Anderson Passes Away at 53
Garret Anderson, a former outfielder and one of the most accomplished players in Los Angeles Angels history, has passed away at the age of 53, the team confirmed.
The organization announced the news on Friday but did not provide details regarding the cause or location.
Anderson made his Major League debut in 1994 and spent the majority of his career with the Angels, becoming a key figure in the team’s lineup. Over the years, he established multiple franchise records, including most games played, hits, and runs batted in.
He played an important role in the team’s 2002 championship season, contributing to what remains the franchise’s only World Series title.
In a statement, team owner Arte Moreno described Anderson as a significant part of the organization’s history, highlighting his professionalism and long-standing contribution to the team.
The Angels announced they will honor his legacy throughout the season, including a tribute at Angel Stadium and a commemorative patch bearing his initials on team uniforms.
