Noor Zaman Reaches Asian Games Squash Semi-Finals

NAGOYA: Pakistan’s Noor Zaman advanced to the men’s singles squash semi-finals at the Asian Games after defeating Hong Kong’s Leung Chi Hin Henry 3-1 in the quarter-final on Friday.

The 28-minute match was played at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena, where Zaman recovered from a third-game setback to secure his place in the last four.

Zaman Takes Control Early

Zaman started strongly and won the opening game 11-7.

The Pakistani player continued to maintain the pressure in the second game, taking it 11-6 to move within one game of victory.

Leung responded in the third game and reduced the deficit by winning 11-3.

However, Zaman regained control in the fourth game and closed out the match with an 11-4 victory.

The result sent the Pakistani squash player into the semi-finals of the men’s singles competition.

Pakistan Exit Mixed Doubles

Earlier on Friday, Pakistan’s Asim Khan and Mehwish Ali were eliminated from the mixed doubles squash event.

The Pakistani pair lost 2-0 to Hong Kong’s Tse Yee Lam Toby and Lai Cheuk Nam in the quarter-finals.

The Hong Kong duo won the opening game 11-6 before securing the second game 11-7.

The match lasted around 20 minutes, with Hong Kong maintaining control throughout both games to complete a straight-games victory.

Zaman’s progress in the men’s singles now keeps Pakistan’s campaign alive in the squash competition.
