USA and China Stay Unbeaten at Women’s Softball World Cup 2026

The United States and China maintained their perfect records on Day 3 of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2026 Group Stage in Oklahoma City, while Mexico revived its campaign with two victories.
The USA improved to 4-0 after defeating New Zealand 9-0 in five innings. China moved to 3-0 with a narrow 3-2 extra-inning victory over the Netherlands.
Mexico also enjoyed a successful day, winning both games of its doubleheader against Brazil and New Zealand to move to 2-2.
USA Continue Perfect Start
The United States produced another dominant performance against New Zealand, winning 9-0 in five innings.
Pitcher Karlyn Pickens played a major role in the victory, allowing just one hit while striking out 10 batters in a complete shutout.
The result moved the hosts to 4-0 at the top of the group standings.
China Edge Netherlands in Extra Innings
China remained unbeaten after a closely contested game against the Netherlands.
The two teams were tied at the end of seven innings before China secured a 3-2 victory in the eighth inning.
Kailin Xi delivered the decisive walk-off single to seal the win for China. Her performance also earned her Player of the Day honours.
The Netherlands dropped to 2-2 following the extra-inning defeat.
Mexico Win Both Games
Mexico made significant progress in the standings by winning both of its games on Day 3.
The team first defeated Brazil 9-2 in six innings before beating New Zealand 10-3 in another six-inning contest.
Mexico’s second victory featured a seven-run third inning, including a grand slam by Sarah Alesandra Coccillos Aguilar.
The two victories lifted Mexico from 0-2 to 2-2 in the tournament.
Mexico Beat Brazil 9-2
Mexico recorded its first win of the competition with a 9-2 victory over Brazil.
Mexico built a 4-0 lead before Brazil scored once in both the second and third innings to reduce the deficit to 4-2.
The Mexican side then broke the game open with four runs in the fifth inning and added another run in the sixth.
Mya Perez led Mexico’s 12-hit offensive effort, finishing 4-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and one run scored. Alexandra Piña contributed two hits, two RBIs and a run, while Sarah Perez went 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Citlalz Gutierrez pitched all six innings for Mexico. She allowed two runs on eight hits, issued no walks and recorded eight strikeouts.
For Brazil, Ana Luiza de Souza and Maria Julia Goncalves each collected two hits and scored once.
