Quetta Sit-In Ends After Agreement Reached Between Government and Families of Martyred Policemen

Quetta: A sit-in staged by the families of police personnel who lost their lives in recent security incidents in Balochistan has ended after a successful round of negotiations with the provincial government.

The protest, which continued for 10 days at Koyila Phatak in Quetta, concluded after both sides reached an agreement addressing the families’ key demands.

Agreement Reached

According to the sit-in committee, the protest officially ended following late-night discussions with government representatives.

As part of the agreement, the bodies of the remaining martyrs were transported to their hometowns, and traffic at Koyila Phatak resumed after being affected during the demonstration.

Key Demands Accepted

The families had requested an independent investigation into the recent security incidents in Ziarat and Hanna Urak.

Provincial authorities agreed to establish a judicial commission to examine the incidents and review the circumstances surrounding the loss of lives.

Government Announces Tribute to Martyrs

The Balochistan government also announced that several public institutions in Ziarat district will be renamed in honor of the police personnel who lost their lives while performing their duties.

The initiative includes the renaming of:

• Several police stations
• Government schools
• Public health facilities

Officials said the move is intended to recognize the sacrifices made by the fallen personnel.

Implementation Begins

Government departments have been directed to begin the administrative process required to rename the selected institutions after obtaining approval from the relevant authorities.

Officials said the implementation of the agreement has already started.

Chief Minister Reaffirms Commitment

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the provincial government remains committed to fulfilling the promises made to the families.

He stated that honoring the sacrifices of police personnel through public recognition will help preserve their legacy and acknowledge their service to the nation.

The government also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the families of the martyrs and ensuring that the agreed measures are implemented in a timely manner.
