Angel Yin Cleared to Represent USA in Solheim Cup After Stomach Illness

Angel Yin is set to compete for the United States in the Solheim Cup after overcoming a serious stomach illness that had kept her away from competitive golf for nearly two months.
The 27-year-old Californian entered the tournament as one of the key players for the American team, although concerns remained over her fitness and match readiness following an extended break.
Yin Returns After Health Setback
Yin missed around two months because of severe stomach problems and returned to competition only at the final event before the Solheim Cup.
Her comeback tournament did not go according to plan, as she recorded rounds of 81 and 76 and failed to make the cut.
Despite the limited preparation, Yin believes she is ready to compete against Europe at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.
The American golfer also faced a significant physical challenge during her recovery, losing approximately 35 pounds.
Captain Angela Stanford Backs Yin
Yin said she had open discussions with her team and American captain Angela Stanford about whether she was ready to participate in the Solheim Cup.
According to Yin, she wanted to be certain that playing would not negatively affect the U.S. team’s chances.
She explained that her caddie asked Stanford whether she wanted Yin to be part of the team. The captain responded positively, giving the golfer confidence that she was ready to contribute.
Yin said Stanford’s support played an important role in her decision to travel to the Netherlands and compete.
Important Player for Team USA
Yin qualified automatically for the U.S. Solheim Cup team through the points standings, finishing second behind Nelly Korda.
When fully fit and in form, Yin is considered one of the players Stanford can rely on during the competition.
The Americans will face Team Europe in the Netherlands as they attempt to retain the Solheim Cup.
For Yin, the tournament provides an opportunity to return to the international stage after a difficult period away from the course.
Despite her disrupted preparation, she enters the competition with the backing of her captain and determination to contribute to the U.S. team’s campaign.
