India will take on South Korea in the second round of the Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers this week, with both teams competing for a place in the Final 8.
The tie will be played on hard courts at the Olympic Tennis Centre in Seoul on Friday and Saturday. India are ranked 19th in the Davis Cup standings, while South Korea are 16th.
The winner will secure a place in the Davis Cup Final 8 in Bologna, Italy, scheduled for November.

India’s singles campaign will be led by Sumit Nagal, currently ranked No. 247 in the world, and Dhakshineswar Suresh, ranked No. 367.
Suresh will begin the tie for India against South Korea’s Kwon Soon-woo in the opening singles match.
Nagal will then face former Australian Open semifinalist Chung Hyeon in the second singles rubber.

India Changes Doubles Pair
India’s scheduled doubles combination will feature N Sriram Balaji and Niki Kalyanda Poonacha.
Poonacha was added to the team after Yuki Bhambri, India’s top-ranked doubles player, was ruled out because of a thigh injury.
Balaji is ranked No. 49 in the world in doubles, while Poonacha is ranked No. 88.
They will face South Korea’s Nam Ji-sung and Park Ui-sung.
How India Reached the Second Round
India advanced after a closely contested 3-2 victory over the Netherlands in Bengaluru in February.
Dhakshineswar Suresh played a key role in that tie, contributing to all three of India’s victories, including the deciding fifth match.
South Korea also recorded a 3-2 win in the opening round, defeating Argentina in Busan to book its place in the second round.

India have won their last two Davis Cup meetings against South Korea.
The most recent meeting mentioned in the record was a 4-1 Indian victory in Chandigarh in 2016.
However, South Korea currently lead the overall head-to-head record 6-5.
India have reached the Davis Cup final three times, finishing runners-up in 1966, 1974 and 1987. The team has yet to reach the Final 8 under the competition’s current format.
