Karachi Flour Prices Rise Again as Wheat Costs Increase

Flour prices have increased again in Karachi following another rise in wheat prices, adding to the pressure on consumers already dealing with higher food expenses.

According to reports, flour mills have increased the prices of fine flour and No. 2.5 flour after wheat became more expensive in the local market.

No. 2.5 Flour Price Increased

The price of No. 2.5 flour has gone up by Rs. 15 per kilogram at flour mills, taking its rate to Rs. 145 per kilogram.

Following the latest increase, the retail price of No. 2.5 flour has reached around Rs. 160 per kilogram.

Fine Flour Also Becomes More Expensive

Fine flour has recorded an increase of Rs. 13 per kilogram, with the flour mills’ price rising to Rs. 155 per kilogram.

In Karachi’s retail markets, fine flour is now being sold for as much as Rs. 175 per kilogram.

The price of chakki flour has also increased by Rs. 10 per kilogram and is currently selling for up to Rs. 180 per kilogram.

Wheat Price Rises to Rs. 130 per Kg

Wheat prices have also moved higher, increasing by Rs. 15 per kilogram to reach Rs. 130 per kilogram.

Flour millers have said that purchasing wheat at higher prices makes it difficult for them to sell flour at the government-fixed rate.

They have called on the government to take immediate steps to stabilize the market and have demanded the import of 2 million tonnes of wheat.

Consumers Face Additional Pressure

The latest increase in flour prices is expected to place further pressure on household budgets in Karachi, particularly as consumers continue to face higher costs for essential food items.

Market conditions and the cost of wheat will likely remain key factors in determining flour prices in the coming days.
