Pakistan, Qatar Discuss Security Cooperation During Doha Meeting
Pakistan and Qatar have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the security sector following a high-level meeting between officials in Doha.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Qatar’s Interior Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, where both sides discussed ways to enhance collaboration on security-related matters and reviewed issues of mutual interest.
Focus on Bilateral Security Relations
According to official reports, the meeting centered on expanding cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar in the field of security. Both ministers also exchanged views on strengthening broader bilateral ties and maintaining close coordination on matters of shared concern.
The visit reflects the continued engagement between the two countries across various sectors, including security and regional cooperation.
MWM Chairman Calls for Regional Dialogue
Separately, Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) Chairman Allama Raja Nasir Abbas urged the federal government to consider facilitating dialogue aimed at promoting peace in the region.
During a press conference, he called on Pakistan to play a constructive diplomatic role in encouraging discussions between regional stakeholders to help reduce tensions and support peaceful solutions.
He also said he plans to write to the Prime Minister regarding the proposal.
Concerns Over Pilgrimage Routes
The MWM chairman also raised concerns about the closure of border routes used by pilgrims traveling to Iran and Iraq. He said prolonged disruptions have affected many people wishing to undertake religious visits.
He urged authorities to explore solutions that could facilitate travel while ensuring appropriate security arrangements.
Remarks on Chehlum Arrangements
Speaking about the upcoming Chehlum observances, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas appealed to authorities to facilitate peaceful religious activities in accordance with the law.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining public order while allowing citizens to exercise their legal and constitutional rights during religious events.
