70 People Fall Ill After Suspected Food Contamination at Buner Engagement

At least 70 people fell ill after eating food suspected to be contaminated at an engagement ceremony in Swari Bazaar, Buner.

According to local reports, several guests developed health problems after consuming food served at the engagement ceremony of Waliullah’s daughter. Many of the affected guests had reportedly arrived from Chagharzai and Paggyal.

Women and Children Among Those Affected

A large number of the affected people were women and children. They were taken to the hospital after developing symptoms and received medical treatment.

District Headquarters Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Farrukh Syed said that 20 patients were discharged after receiving immediate treatment.

The remaining 50 patients are still receiving treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital.

Authorities Order Medical Assistance

Following the incident, the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner visited the hospital to review the condition of the affected people.

They directed the district administration and hospital authorities to ensure that the victims receive the necessary medical care and treatment.

Police Begin Investigation

Police have started an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish whether the food served at the engagement ceremony was responsible for the illnesses.
