Punjab CM Inaugurates New Cancer Treatment Facilities in Multan

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated several new cancer treatment facilities at Nishtar Hospital in Multan, including a Chinese cryoablation centre aimed at providing minimally invasive cancer treatment.

The chief minister visited the newly established centre on Friday and inspected the recently installed cryoablation equipment. Officials briefed her on the technology, which uses needles to target and destroy cancerous tumours.

PET-CT and Radiopharmaceutical Facilities Also Opened

Maryam Nawaz also inaugurated a PET-CT cyclotron centre and reviewed the procedure involved in operating the newly installed equipment.

She also inspected a radiopharmaceutical production laboratory and pharmacy hot lab, which are part of the expanded cancer treatment infrastructure at the hospital.

100-Bed Cancer Centre Inspected

During her visit, the chief minister reviewed the facilities available at the 100-bed cancer centre.

The centre includes an outpatient department (OPD), intensive care unit (ICU), chemotherapy and radiotherapy rooms, as well as a digital and CT simulator room and a dedicated focused radiotherapy linear accelerator room.

First Patient Receives Cryoablation Treatment

Maryam Nawaz also met the first patient from Kamalia to receive cancer treatment using the newly installed cryoablation machine.

While speaking with the patient’s mother, the chief minister said the equipment had been brought from China to support cancer treatment and reassured the family about the treatment.

Children’s Cancer Ward Established

Officials informed the chief minister that a dedicated children’s ward has also been established at the Multan Cancer Centre.

Maryam Nawaz directed the relevant authorities to make the facility fully operational at the earliest so that children requiring cancer treatment can benefit from the new services.
