Biden mocks Trump and Musk on social media amid COVID-19 diagnosis

Biden amid COVID-19 diagnosis takes shots on Trump and Musk, shifts focus to re-election campaign.

US President Joe Biden, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, has garnered attention with his social media posts targeting Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Biden tweeted, “I’m sick,” followed by, “…of Elon Musk and his wealthy friends trying to buy this election. And if you agree, pitch in here.” The tweet featured images of Trump and Musk alongside a link to Biden’s campaign donation site.

These tweets followed an assassination attempt on Trump, which Musk responded to by endorsing the former president on X (formerly Twitter). Musk stated, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”

Biden’s tweets seem to aim at refocusing public discourse on his campaign, emphasizing his agenda to reverse Trump-era policies and enhance social security measures. After his diagnosis, Biden returned to his home in Delaware, experiencing mild symptoms while continuing his presidential duties in self-isolation. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that Biden is vaccinated, boosted, and feeling well.

Despite health concerns and calls from within the Democratic Party for him to step down, Biden remains committed to his re-election campaign. Addressing these concerns, he has stated he would consider stepping down only if faced with a serious medical condition.

Biden’s mental and physical fitness have been under scrutiny following several public gaffes. Nevertheless, he has reaffirmed his capability to serve another term and indicated that he would hand over power to Vice President Kamala Harris if necessary.
