Malaysia Defeat Pakistan 2-0 in Men’s Team Final to Secure Gold

Pakistan secured the silver medal in the men’s team squash event at the 2026 Asian Games after Malaysia recorded a 2-0 victory in the final at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena in Japan on Friday.

The Pakistan team had enjoyed a strong run throughout the competition and reached the gold-medal match with hopes of finishing on top. However, Malaysia produced two important victories to claim the title.

Chandaran Gives Malaysia the Lead

Malaysia took the advantage in the opening match through Ameeshenraj Chandaran, who defeated Pakistan’s Nasir Iqbal 3-1 in a contest lasting 41 minutes.

Nasir started confidently and won the first game 11-8. Chandaran responded immediately, taking the second game 11-3.

The third game was closely contested, but the Malaysian player managed to win it 11-6 before completing the victory with an 11-4 score in the fourth game.

The result put Malaysia 1-0 ahead in the team final.

Yow Eain Ng Completes Malaysia’s Victory

Pakistan needed to win the second match to keep their gold-medal hopes alive.

Noor Zaman made a strong comeback after losing the opening game 11-8 to Yow Eain Ng. The Pakistani player won the next two games 11-6, 11-6 to move ahead 2-1.

However, Yow Eain Ng responded under pressure and changed the momentum of the contest.

The Malaysian won the fourth game 11-4 before taking the fifth 11-5 to secure victory and give Malaysia an unassailable 2-0 lead in the final.

With the result, Pakistan finished the men’s team competition with a silver medal, while Malaysia took the gold.

Malaysia Also Win Women’s Team Gold

Malaysia also secured the women’s team squash gold medal after defeating Hong Kong, China, 2-1 in the final.

Aifa Azman gave Malaysia an early advantage by defeating Tze Lok Ho 3-0.

Azman won the three games 11-9, 11-9 and 12-10 in 36 minutes.
