Sindh High Court Allows Nursing Student to Sit Dow University Exam

Sindh High Court Allows Nursing Student to Sit Dow University Exam

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has permitted a nursing student named Nusrat to appear in her examination and directed Dow University of Health Sciences to make the necessary arrangements.

The court’s order provides temporary relief to the student while her constitutional petition remains pending. The permission is provisional and subject to the final outcome of the case.

During the hearing, Nusrat’s lawyer, Muhammad Nawaz Dahri, told the constitutional bench that technical issues had prevented his client from taking the examination, potentially affecting her academic future.

According to the lawyer, Nusrat was enrolled in Dow University’s four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BS Nursing) programme, which commenced in 2021 and was scheduled to conclude in 2024. He also informed the court that she had previously appeared in the Developmental Psychology examination.

Dow University Agrees to Provisional Examination Permission

During the proceedings, the university’s lawyer informed the bench that Dow University had no objection to allowing Nusrat to sit the examination on a provisional basis.

However, the university maintained that the permission should remain subject to the final decision on the student’s pending constitutional petition.

After considering the arguments, the court directed the university to make arrangements for Nusrat to participate in the examination.

Final Decision on Petition Still Pending

The constitutional bench clarified that allowing the student to appear in the examination would not constitute a final ruling on the merits of her petition.

The court also ordered that the matter be listed alongside the pending constitutional petition for further proceedings.

The order gives Nusrat an opportunity to take the examination while the legal dispute continues. The final outcome of the petition will determine the further course of the case.
