LPG Price Rises by 8% in Pakistan Ahead of Winter
ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased the official price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by around 8% for October, raising the cost of the domestic cylinder ahead of the winter season.
According to OGRA’s latest notification, the price of LPG has been fixed at Rs279.34 per kilogram for October, compared with Rs258.64 per kilogram in September.
As a result, the official price of an 11.8kg domestic LPG cylinder has increased by Rs244.14, from Rs3,052.09 in September to Rs3,296.23 in October.
LPG price increases by Rs20.68 per kg
OGRA determined the producer price of LPG at Rs238,041.49 per tonne for October, compared with Rs217,351.52 per tonne in September.
The producer price includes the applicable excise duty, petroleum levy and sales tax.
For an 11.8kg cylinder, the producer price was calculated at Rs2,808.89, up from Rs2,564.75 in the previous month.
Additional marketing, distribution and transportation margins were included when calculating the maximum consumer price.
After the applicable taxes and margins, OGRA fixed the maximum consumer-end LPG price at Rs279,341.49 per tonne, equivalent to Rs3,296.23 for an 11.8kg cylinder.
Global LPG prices push up local rates
OGRA said the increase was mainly linked to higher international LPG prices.
According to the regulator, the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP) increased by 9.9% compared with the previous month. The average dollar exchange rate, however, declined slightly by 0.12%.
The combined impact resulted in an increase of Rs244.14 per 11.8kg LPG cylinder, while the per-kilogram price rose by Rs20.68.
The new official LPG prices will remain applicable until October 31, 2026.
