Brewers Edge Braves 5-4 for Sixth Straight Win, Set Franchise Milestone
Milwaukee, August 7 — The Milwaukee Brewers continued their red-hot form on Wednesday night, securing a narrow 5-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves to notch their sixth straight win and reach a major franchise milestone.
Perkins, Vaughn Power Brewers’ Offense
Blake Perkins had a standout performance, delivering a home run, a double, and two RBIs. Meanwhile, Andrew Vaughn stayed red-hot at the plate, launching a solo homer and extending his career-best hitting streak to 12 games. Vaughn is now batting .435 with five home runs and 16 RBIs during this impressive stretch.
The key moment came in the fifth inning, when Isaac Collins singled and scored on Vaughn’s groundout. Perkins followed up with a two-out blast to right field, putting Milwaukee up 5-1 and forcing Braves starter Spencer Strider out of the game.
Solid Pitching Secures the Win
Veteran pitcher Jose Quintana (9-4) delivered a strong outing for Milwaukee, allowing three runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts over six innings. Relievers Jared Koenig and Abner Uribe each pitched a scoreless frame, while closer Trevor Megill earned his 26th save, despite giving up a solo home run to Michael Harris II in the ninth inning.
Brewers Set Franchise Record
With this victory, the Brewers (70-44) moved 26 games over .500 for the first time since 2021 and became the fastest team in franchise history to reach 70 wins, doing so in just 114 games. The previous best was 116 games, also achieved in 2021.
Braves Show Signs of Fight
Despite the loss, the Braves had some bright spots. Jurickson Profar launched a solo homer, while Sean Murphy and Eli White each drove in a run. However, starter Spencer Strider (5-9) struggled, allowing five runs on 11 hits in just 4 2/3 innings of work.
Looking Ahead
The Brewers will look to continue their momentum and further solidify their playoff positioning as the regular season heats up. With their offense clicking and pitching holding steady, Milwaukee appears to be peaking at the right time.
