Miyu Yamashita Matches LPGA Scoring Record With Nine-Stroke Victory in Edmonton

EDMONTON, Alberta: Japan’s Miyu Yamashita produced an outstanding performance at the CPKC Women’s Open, matching the LPGA Tour’s 72-hole scoring record while securing a nine-stroke victory at Royal Mayfair.
The 4-foot-11 golfer completed the final round with a 4-under 66, including a birdie putt on the 18th hole. She finished the tournament at 23-under 257, matching the 72-hole LPGA scoring mark previously set by Sei Young Kim at the 2018 Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic.
Yamashita Sets New Tournament Record
Yamashita led the tournament from the opening round and continued to build her advantage throughout the weekend.
She began with a course-record 62 on Thursday before following it with a 64 on Friday and a 65 on Saturday. Entering the final round with a six-stroke advantage, she extended her lead to nine shots by the end of the tournament.
Her 257 total also established a new CPKC Women’s Open scoring record, surpassing the previous mark of 262 set by Jin Young Ko in 2019.
Strong Run Continues for Yamashita
The Edmonton victory adds another major achievement to Yamashita’s growing professional career.
She has now won four LPGA Tour titles in four different countries. Her recent victories include the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan, while she also won the Women’s British Open in Wales and the Maybank Championship in Malaysia last season.
Yamashita has also collected 13 victories on the Japan LPGA Tour.
Japanese Players Complete Top Two
Yuri Yoshida, another golfer from Japan, finished second at 14-under after carding a final-round 69.
Sei Young Kim finished another stroke behind at 13-under, following a final-round 67.
Yamashita’s dominant performance gave her a comfortable nine-stroke margin and added another record-setting achievement to her impressive 2026 season.
