Angel Reese Sets New WNBA Rebounding Records in Atlanta Dream Victory

Angel Reese delivered a record-breaking performance for the Atlanta Dream on Monday, setting new WNBA marks for rebounds in a single game and rebounds in a season.
Reese grabbed 26 rebounds as Atlanta defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 78-71 on August 24, producing one of the standout individual performances of the WNBA season.
Reese Sets Single-Game Rebounding Record
The 26-rebound performance surpassed the previous WNBA single-game record of 24 rebounds, set by Chamique Holdsclaw in 2023 while playing for the Washington Mystics.
Reese also improved significantly on her previous career-best total of 22 rebounds, which she recorded during her rookie season with the Chicago Sky in 2024.
Speaking after the game, Reese said her focus was on contributing to the team in different areas.
“I just want to be consistent for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win.”
New WNBA Season Rebounding Mark
Reese’s performance also helped her set a new WNBA single-season rebounding record.
She has now collected 458 rebounds in 37 games, moving seven rebounds ahead of the previous mark set by A’ja Wilson in 2024 over 38 games.
The achievement adds another milestone to Reese’s young professional career.
Another Strong Performance for Reese
The record-breaking night came just two days after Reese produced a career-high 31 points in Atlanta’s victory over Phoenix on August 22.
Against Los Angeles, she recorded 11 points and 26 rebounds, while also reaching another notable mark with her 27th double-double of the season.
Reese scored the basket that completed her double-double with 13.9 seconds remaining in the game.
Atlanta Dream Continue Strong Run
The victory completed a perfect 4-0 West Coast road sweep for Atlanta.
The Dream now have a 25-13 record as they move closer to the WNBA playoffs.
For Reese, the latest performance further highlights her impact on both ends of the court and adds two major rebounding records to an already impressive WNBA career.
