Bosnia and Herzegovina Coach Criticizes Team Fitness Ahead of EuroBasket

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s preparation for EuroBasket faces serious challenges as coach Adis Beciragic voices concern over the team’s fitness levels. Recent heavy defeats to Montenegro, Serbia, and China have raised alarms ahead of a tough group stage.

In their latest warm-up at Sarajevo’s Skenderija arena, Bosnia and Herzegovina fell 102-90 to Montenegro, who controlled the game from start to finish. Coach Beciragic singled out NBA center Jusuf Nurkic, saying, “Nurkic is out of shape and can barely run,” despite his 15 points in the match. Additionally, Beciragic highlighted the late return of Xavier Castaneda, who only recently resumed full team training.

The national team also suffered a 126-89 loss to Serbia in a closed-door game, underscoring ongoing struggles with preparation and execution. “We missed 18 free throws against Serbia. We need to improve our focus and fitness to compete effectively,” Beciragic added.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s pre-tournament schedule remains demanding, with upcoming warm-up games against Great Britain and Belgium later this month. At EuroBasket, the team faces a challenging group in Limassol, Cyprus, with opponents including host nation Cyprus, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Georgia.

Fans will be hoping Bosnia and Herzegovina can turn their fortunes around and compete strongly against some of Europe’s top basketball nations.
