Guangdong secured a 4-2 shoot-out victory over Pakistan Army after their second match in the Hockey Test Matches Series 2026 ended in a 1-1 draw at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad.

The match, organised by the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), saw both teams score once during regulation time before Guangdong prevailed in the decisive shoot-out.

Guangdong took the lead in the 26th minute when Chen Nanzhen, wearing jersey number nine, converted a penalty stroke to put his team ahead.

Pakistan Army responded in the 34th minute through their player wearing jersey number 23, who scored from a penalty corner to bring the match level at 1-1.

Both sides continued to compete for the winning goal, but neither managed to break the deadlock before the end of regulation time. The match consequently went to a shoot-out, where Guangdong converted their chances to secure a 4-2 victory.

The result gave the visiting Chinese side a hard-fought win in the second fixture of the series, while Pakistan Army showed resilience by recovering from an early deficit to force a shoot-out.

Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani and Pakistan Army Sports Deputy Director Colonel Nabeel attended the match.

The Hockey Test Matches Series 2026 provides an opportunity for the participating teams to gain competitive experience and strengthen sporting exchanges. The fixture also offered both sides valuable preparation through international-level competition.

Guangdong’s shoot-out success concluded a closely fought encounter in Islamabad, with the teams unable to be separated during normal playing time.
