TransPeshawar Denies Claims of BRT Buses Being Shifted to Punjab
TransPeshawar has dismissed social media claims that buses from Peshawar’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system are being transferred to Punjab following the emergency, clarifying that the circulating videos show newly purchased buses arriving in the city.
The transport authority said two videos were shared online with misleading descriptions. According to officials, one clip showing buses at night was recorded in August 2026, while the daylight footage dates back to October.
Both videos show the delivery of new buses acquired for Peshawar’s BRT network this year, rather than vehicles being removed from the existing fleet.
52 New Buses Purchased
TransPeshawar said it had purchased 52 additional buses to strengthen the city’s public transport system. Of these, 25 have already arrived in Peshawar, while the remaining 27 are expected to reach the city this week.
Once all the vehicles are delivered and added to the network, the total fleet will increase to 296 buses.
The clarification comes amid online speculation about the movement of Peshawar’s BRT buses to other parts of the country.
TransPeshawar maintained that the footage does not show buses being shifted out of Peshawar. Instead, the vehicles are part of a planned fleet expansion aimed at increasing the capacity of the city’s public transport system.
