Balochistan Adds More Public Transport Buses in Two Cities

Balochistan Launches 21 Modern Buses for Quetta and Turbat Under Green and Pink Bus Project

In a move to modernize urban transport, the Balochistan government has introduced 21 modern buses under the Green and Pink Bus Project, aiming to improve commuting in Quetta and Turbat.

The initiative, launched under the directives of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, highlights the provincial government’s focus on public welfare and infrastructure development. Of the new fleet, 17 buses will operate in Quetta, while 4 have been allocated to Turbat.

To ensure safe travel for women, five pink buses in Quetta have been reserved exclusively for female passengers. The remaining 12 green buses will run on key urban routes, providing efficient and reliable transportation for the public.

Transport Secretary Muhammad Hayat Kakar confirmed that the buses have been inspected, delivered, and are ready to serve commuters. He noted that the project is expected to enhance daily travel for thousands of residents while also creating new job opportunities.

Once operational, the service is projected to serve 40,000–50,000 passengers daily, easing mobility challenges and reducing reliance on outdated transport systems. The provincial government emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to provide sustainable, safe, and inclusive urban transport solutions for Balochistan’s growing cities.
