Published: August 26, 2025
The 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Thailand reaches a crucial stage as the third-leg matches in Pools A, B, C, and D conclude on Tuesday, August 26. These final pool matches will determine the remaining teams advancing to the eighthfinals, with six teams already confirmed.
In Pool C, France and Greece will face off in Chiang Mai at 16:00 local time (09:00 UTC). Both teams hold a 1-1 record, and only the winner will secure a top-two finish alongside pool leaders Brazil. France enters as the favorite after a strong performance against Brazil, while Greece, making its first World Championship appearance in 23 years, hopes to replicate its historic victory over France in the 2019 CEV European Championship. Later, undefeated Brazil will meet winless Puerto Rico to close out the pool.
Pool A sees the Netherlands and hosts Thailand, both with 2-0 records, battling for first place in the group and a favorable playoff position. Earlier, Sweden will aim for its first victory against African team Egypt, who are eager to end their debut campaign with a win.
In Pool B, Italy and Belgium, both already advancing, will play for the top spot. Meanwhile, Cuba and newcomers Slovakia will compete for their first win of the tournament.
Pool D features the top-seeded USA (2-0, 6 points), already advancing, while Argentina, Czechia, and Slovenia battle for the remaining knockout berth. Argentina faces Slovenia first, needing a win to progress, with Czechia’s match against the USA later deciding the pool’s second qualifier.
