Ederson Moves to Fenerbahce After Eight Glorious Years at Manchester City
LONDON / ISTANBUL: Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson has officially completed a permanent transfer to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, ending an eight-year trophy-filled spell at Manchester City, the Premier League club confirmed Tuesday.
Since joining City from Benfica in 2017, Ederson won 18 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League crown, and claimed the Premier League Golden Glove award three times.
Manchester City thanked Ederson in a statement:
“Ederson has completed a permanent transfer to Fenerbahce, subject to international clearance. We wish you the very best, Eddie.”
Fenerbahce announced that Ederson will earn a net €11 million ($12.9 million) per season starting 2025-26. Reports suggest the transfer fee was around £12 million ($16.2 million).
Ederson reflected on his time at City, saying:
“I leave Manchester City incredibly proud of what we have achieved together. Playing for City has been the most special time of my life. I’ll always be a fan of this special club. Once a Blue, always a Blue.”
City are expected to replace the 32-year-old with Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain.
