England Enter 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup as Red-Hot Favorites
England’s women’s rugby team, widely regarded as one of the best in the world, are strong favorites to claim the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup this autumn.
According to William Hill, the Red Roses are listed at 2/9 to lift the trophy, reflecting the high expectations surrounding the squad. After scoring an impressive 161 points in just two pool games against Samoa and the United States, confidence in the England camp is soaring ahead of Saturday’s match against Australia.
The Red Roses have a perfect record against the Wallaroos, winning all seven previous encounters, including a 42-7 victory in 2023. A third successive group-stage win seems highly likely.

Since 1994, England and New Zealand have dominated the Women’s Rugby World Cup. England have lifted the trophy twice (1994 & 2014), while New Zealand’s Black Ferns have six titles to their name (1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2017 & 2021).
England’s attacking options are particularly strong this year. Saracens winger Jess Breach has already scored five tries in the opening two games, bringing her total to 52 international tries—just nine shy of Red Roses legend Sue Day’s record. Teammates Abby Dow (49 tries) and Ellie Kildunne (42 tries) are also in outstanding form, making England’s attack one of the most formidable in the tournament.
On paper, a final showdown between England and New Zealand would be the clash everyone wants to see, with both teams clearly a class above the rest of the competition.
