Aryna Sabalenka to Face Amanda Anisimova in US Open Final Showdown

World No.1 and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka has reached her third straight US Open final, where she will face American star Amanda Anisimova in what promises to be a blockbuster clash in New York.

Sabalenka fought back from a set down to defeat Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a thrilling semifinal. The Belarusian is aiming to become the first woman since Serena Williams in 2014 to successfully defend the US Open crown.

“It was a really tough battle,” Sabalenka said after the match. “I’m just super happy to be back in the final and hopefully I can go all the way again.”

The top seed has now reached four of the last five Grand Slam finals but hasn’t lifted a major since her 2024 US Open victory. Earlier this year, she finished runner-up at both the Australian Open and French Open.

Anisimova Stuns Osaka to Advance

On the other side of the draw, Amanda Anisimova secured her spot in the final after a dramatic three-set win over former world No.1 Naomi Osaka. The 23-year-old American prevailed 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 in a late-night thriller at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

“It means the world to me. I’m still trying to process this moment—it feels like a dream come true,” said Anisimova.

The victory marks her second straight Grand Slam final, setting up a Wimbledon rematch with Sabalenka, who she defeated earlier this summer in the semifinals.

High Stakes Final

The US Open women’s final will see two in-form players clash:

  • Sabalenka: World No.1, three-time Grand Slam champion, and the reigning US Open winner.

  • Anisimova: Rising American star, chasing her first Grand Slam title in front of a home crowd.

With history on the line, fans can expect a high-energy battle under the lights at Flushing Meadows.
